Brava is one of the most singular islands of Cape Verde, due to its impressive mountainous terrain and a rich history that dates back to the 15th century. Discovered in 1462 by the Portuguese explorer Diogo Afonso, the island’s settlement grew significantly in 1680 when it received refugees from the neighboring island of Fogo.
