Leave the coast behind and head into the mountainous interior of Santiago for an advanced hike to Pico d’Antónia. After pick-up in Praia (or the agreed meeting point), you travel to the trailhead, where your guide gives a short briefing and checks readiness for the ascent.
The hike follows a demanding route through green valleys, steep mountain paths, and small rural villages where traditional farming is still part of daily life. This experience is designed for experienced hikers with a good level of fitness. Along the way, your guide shares insights into the island’s nature, geology, and life in the highlands, with planned stops to rest, hydrate, and take photos.
As you climb higher, the landscape becomes more rugged and the views more dramatic. Reaching the summit of Pico d’Antónia is the highlight of the day. From the top, you enjoy sweeping panoramic views across Santiago, with coastlines visible in multiple directions on clear days.
After the descent, the pace slows as you head to Quinta da Montanha. Here, you relax and recover with an extensive buffet lunch in a natural setting an ideal way to end an active and rewarding day before returning to Praia.
