Start your discovery at the Eco-Museum. There, learn about the history of the island’s colonization, rooted in the exploitation of salt, which was exported to several countries such as Brazil until the 19th century. Afterwards, visit the Salinas do Porto Inglés wetland and have the opportunity to see the locals producing salt.
Then, drive to the village of Morro and have a typical breakfast with a local family, including the famous Cape Verdean Couscuz.
Your tour continues to the town of Calheta, where a visit to its craft center gives you the opportunity to buy some souvenirs. Then continue towards the agricultural and fishing areas until the Morrinho dunes. There, take a leisurely walk along the white sand dunes blown in by the wind from the Sahara Desert.
Continue to the village of Pedro Vaz, the first village to be inhabited, and take a break for a delicious lunch (at your own expense) in a typical local restaurant. In Ribeira João, try the local production of goat cheese with the locals.
Then, return to the village and visit the São José Fort, built in the 18th century to protect the island from pirate attacks, and the Nossa Senhora das Graças Church. The visit ends with a swim in the most beautiful beach on the island, Bitchirotcha Beach. The tour ends with drop-off at your accommodation.
